Grants are financial aid that you do not need to pay back. That’s why they’re often called “gift aid.”
Grants are awarded based on financial need. The Advancement grant (formerly the Non-degree grant) is intended to provide financial aid to Vermonters who want to take a course or short-term program to enhance job skills that improve employability or (2) to provide non-traditional students with an introduction to a postsecondary educational program.
